This was a personal project that I started in 2022. The inspiration was the infamous doll from the 1988 and 1990 movies, Chucky. A little doll became a scary serial killer but remained cute and charming. I had been seeing people making custom teddy bears at the time, too, so after I watched the Chucky movies one night, I decided I'd make a cuddly bear with his face on it.
The project came with a lot of trial and error, and nearly a year break before it was finally finished.
The fur was dyed using a custom mix of Rit polyester dyes. The hair was made from yarn rooted into the scalp, glued, and then brushed (similar to when re-doing the hair for a doll). The face and knife are made from polymer clay and painted with acrylics. The outfit was made from upcycled clothing. The face also has copper wire, synthetic hairs and resin teeth. The body has an internal armature made of wire and mesh to make it posable. The bottom and feet are weighted with small bags of pebbles to balance out the bear, making it sturdy enough to stand on two feet.
